Default Footwell flap actuator

For some reason my footwell flap does not seem to work. The AC works just fine and is really cold. When I connect the Mytivac pump to the yellow vacuum line and check the actuator the line holds vacuum and I can hear the motor working. When I turn on the fan there is air coming out of the footwell but even with the Mytivac connect the airflow to the footwell vents does not stop, although I hear the vacuum motor working. What is wrong here? Thanks for any advice

Are you sure the yellow line is actually connected to the footwell flap and not plugged somewhere? Happens when some do a quicky fix of the climate control to get rid of problems and never go back and fix.

Could be the linkage has poped off. The vaccuum actuater is working, but it's not connected to the flap itself. I'm pretty sure the failure mode is in the closed position. I think that actuator can be reached by removing the center console.

If there is air coming out the footwell vents even when the vacuum line is disconnected, then you must have a flap that is jammed open. The default position is closed. If you can hear the motor running, but the flow of air doesn't change, then the motor must not be moving the flap - most likely the arm is broken or has been dislodged. Some obstruction must be preventing the flap from returning to its natural closed position. Good luck in tracking the problem down!

Sounds like a problem that needs to be worked on in Arlington.
