Are you kidding me?!? You'd do that?? What would you like in return? If you're serious (and I think you are!), I'll PM my address to you.

Vielen, vielen Danke!

Well, I have the Amazongreen paint now - from that site - but haven't used it yet. So, I don't know yet how good that tip is. But, I'll bet a search of the archives will find some anecdotes.

Does the dealer not supply touchup paint for obscure colors?
In a word - no. Seriously. I had Jeannie (928 SP) look over the whole country back in '98 and '99. Nothin' for Amazongreen. I had my wife canvas the dealers in Germany in '00 and the only pointer she got was to a speciality shop in Köln. She skipped a little work, zipped up the 'bahn one morning, and waited for the owner to arrive at 7:30 AM. No paint. Good wife though.

When I have contacted them, they have had mainstream colors like metallic silver and dark blue.
Sure. They'll be able to get anything recent. You can also get small can of touch-up paint custom mixed. Question is - how close will it really be? Don't know. And I don't know about autovisuals yet either.

Cool

Dave,

Thanks for the info. I would have thought that Porsche would have the more recent colors. Maybe, they are not comfortable with complex colors,... knowing how tough it is to work with a specialty color blend. Sorry to hear they don't do that.

In some cases, you must repaint the entire panel/nose. Now the paint companies such as Dupont can take a photo impression of the color. The door jambs are unfaded by sunlight. But other areas can be faded. There's the rub with matching. However, the new photo process can produce excellent matches.

Anything to get a shark to her new home. What do I want for it? I dunno, humor me, it doesn’t fit my car so not much good to me. I tried to put it on once, looked to be designed for a non-spoiler 928. It’s in the original Porsche box, I think it has a Porsche badge embroidered into it.

Instruction for what? A car bra? Oh yea, right here:

Step 1. Remove from box
Step 2. Place on front of car
Step 3. fasten fasteners
Step 4. Have a beer, admire your work.

MileHigh - Brain fart, it's in my parents garage. My dad is dropping it off first thing tomorrow morning. I'll make sure it's all 100% and have it in the mail either tomorrow or Wednesday. I have an airborn express account, you'll have it next.

It's still in the leather pouch as well. Too bad it doesn't fit my car.

Then again, I was plannin on buying a non spoiler 928 for my girlfriend in the next year or so.............nevermind, she'd probably wash it with the bra on and ruin the paint.

Hacker,

To save you the grief, I'm going to give the Racer Tape a try. I appreciate the fantastic offer, though. Why don't you put it on eBay? Isn't there also a classified section here for parts and accessories?

Like I said, thank you for the great offer.

3M Blue painter's masking tape. It's cheap and comes off without residue. Racer's tape can leave some adhesive behind, especially after it gets hot sitting in the sun.

Dennis,

LOL. I love the smiley face and the "encouraging" words. That's pretty funny. 3M painters tape is now on the list.

So many protectors, so little front end...

I got a pint of custom mixed paint locally from an automotive paint house. They can do a great job of matching with the computer mixers. I took the 2 philips screws out that hold the gas tank door in place, and took it in to their computer! Couldn't be easier.

I have to get some of these "please move to the right" windshield banners -- who makes these custom signs (cheaply...)?

I mentioned the latex paint earlier on...sounds a little strange, but this stuff is fantastic. Check it out:
