928 in the country
Being pretty new to the 928 world, having just gotten mine in Feb, and having seen only 2 in the last year or so, I was surprised to run across one for sale on a back road outside Georgetown, SC. VIN plate has # 9289100339, supposed to be a '79, but has a black leather(?) interior, an S front spoiler and a much newer wing....8" headlights and no sunroof. Body is in pretty rough shape, with a new cheap red paint job. It did crank and run well, though. Also, it's an auto.
I have no need for another one yet, no where to put it at the minute, but if anyone's interested, I got the owners name and phone number. He wa supposedly asking $5,700, which seems a bit much, especially since it hasn't been inspected since 1995.
I'll try and post a picture of the vin plate, and I have a few others.

Bill,
Interesting find...another Euro. Too bad the respray was a cheap one...sounds like it might be time to call out the "928 Rescue" crew, eh?
I used to live in Southern Pines...circa 1970! I trust you are a golfer?
Cheers,
Tim

Yeah, I really wanted to take it home with me, it was looking pretty lost out there..... Someone in the past had a lot of fun with it, I'm sure... If the lady in my life didn't have her heart set on a new Volvo wagon this week, I'd have probably called the guy, and, if we could have reached a reasonable compromise on price, snuck it home....
