Default MAF conversion from AFM

Now that I have installed a Euro intake power has increased but could use more top end. Split Second has a "signal controller box" and software to convert AFM to MAF. Anyone tried this?

Tony,

If you are still running L-Jet, then the S/S product will not work for you - unless they've introduced something new in the last coupla months.

The AFM works on a different voltage scale than the S/S product is able to output. Read the detail stuff in their website and you'll see what I mean.

I'm almost done with my AFM replacement solution- I lost a couple of weeks with my welded camshaft failure.

John the "Bastard" used Split-Second's programmable controller (not the one with the ***** the 944 guys use) on his twin turbo. He mentioned it takes a good amount of tuning to set it up.

The problem is the L-Jet uses 0-8v so the simple controller, which only adjust 0-5v, won't work.

I ran across this aussie DIY box, which when available, should be less than US$100 with it's controller: Jaycar.au | Digital Fuel Adjuster
It supposedly can do 0-5v, 0-12v, or even 0-1v (oxygen sensor) conversions.

Addendum -

If you do the MAF conversion, it looks as though they have a programmable converter that should work. Forgot about that one.

But, you can only do MAF, and it's calibrated to their meter (read: you're stuck with S/S meters, which do not give a great performance on the flowbench).

Just depends on your time/$ equation.

We need to use the S/S controller box and R4 software. I called S/S about a month ago and this is what they told me: They have a conditioner box for L Jet 8 volts. Need the software to fine tune over the entire RPM band. I far as I can tell the system is not calibrated to S/S MAF. In fact I was going to use Vortech 80mm with Ford's MAF electronics.

Thanks John for the link. But imagine if we could adjust air/fuel ratio on the fly!

Guess this is my winter project.
