Thumbs up Cheap 928 die-cast models..."Sunny Turbo 928" & 928 Turbo

928 Faithful,

I just picked up the following 4" x 2" (1:36 scale) die-cast model 928 at my local Anderson's supermarket for a mere $1.99. Has anyone else ever seen this car? I am not sure what the "Sunny Turbo" decals on the car refer to. Is this a racing team? I believe the car is made by WELLY (China). Model # SS 4349

Early model year 928 die-cast with SUNNY Turbo decals - nougat brown

EDIT -
Picked up another interesting 928 die-cast model by WELLY at the local Anderson's supermarket. Unfortunately, I got the last one in the store.
It is a silver "928 Turbo" (sic) - 1:36 scale / model No. 9031. It is...shall I say...unique in that it looks like a GTS with Cup 2 wheels, rear bumper cover / lamps, and color-matched rear spoiler. But, it has an early 928 steering wheel, "spider" intake plumbing, early model front spoiler, and seats. The sunroof, doors, and hood open/close. I'll take a picture of it and post it up later.

While I was there...ended up buying several other Porsche and BMW models --- 2 Porsche 996 (x1 silver 1:36 scale, x1 blue 1:30 scale), a 993 Carrera Cabriolet (yellow), 1 silver BMW Z8 (1:36 scale by Kinsmart) and 1 red BMW 850i (1:36 scale by Kinsmart). All have soft rubber-like tires...they roll nicely ...hoods, doors, and hatches open/close and they have a spring loaded drive mechanism that propels them smartly across hardwood floors. They really look nice especially for the low price ($1.99 - 2.99 USD). How can ya go wrong?

I'll keep my eyes open for more 928s in case anyone here is interested. I seem to recall that both Nicole and Dr. Bob like to buy-up these inexpensive Porsche die-cast models...anyone else?

Best,
Tim

TUK...

While on vacation in California years ago, I picked one of those up at Knots Berry Farm. The one I picked up was exactly the same except it has an S4 rear wing. I'm guessing that yours has opening doors and rear hatch. I believe it's around a 1/40 th scale. It's bigger than the Bburago 1/43 928s.

Not really sure of the manufacturer, but mine has "SS4349 Made in CHINA" molded on the bottom of the chassis.

I, too, have one that's exactly the same -- just a little different...

I think this is simlar to a purple metallic one I got through a contact in Germany some time ago. I'd have to look - had to put part of my collection away due to a lack of display space...
