Default Window tint glue

I have a ton of the stuff on the windshield. Apparently there was tint on the windshield that I took off but I still have a lot of glue on there. What is the best stuff to use to get that crap off. Apparently alcohol does not do much at all.

Acetone will remove this stuff. Be sure to use it in a well ventilated area with no fire/ignition source available.

Thanks Jay. Where do you get it? Is that the name of the stuff or the chemical?

Also, What does HTH mean? My bro is wondering.

HTH = Hope That Helps

Be VERY careful if your windshield has that plastic coating on the inside. "Sekuriflex"..Harsh things like acetone might damage it severely!

Mark, I do not have to be careful because I scraped that stuff out. I just have some residual glue left I need to clean up. With that plastic stuff in there you couldn't see 50 ft in front of the car. I am still amazed Styln drove here from Flai like that.

Thats the name of the Chemical combination. Comes in quarts at your local Home Improvement warehouse. Probably expect to pay ~$3/qt for the stuff. Works great on nasty adhesive backing stickers, etc. Absolutely great stuff!!!

Oily Acetone = Nail Polish Remover, amongst other things. You may find enough of this to test it around the house.....

Hair salon supply houses have pure acetone.

Nail-polish remover sometimes has fragrance which is why I buy the pure acetone.

Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the windshield with a new one. They can be had for only a couple of hundred if you shop around.

The windshield is fine. No need to throw away hundreds when you don't have to.

Don't use a razor blade you will stratch the glass! My window remover guy did this to me. Paint thinner for acycrilic paints is the best thing. Don't get it on other plastic parts though. Paint thinner is just the best at many things, if you have a stain on your carpets, paint thinner. If you need to clean your wife's suade shoes paint thinner. The list just goes on.
