I didn't think it would happen to me...sob
At 12:04 pm on this day the fourth of July I almost lost my best friend. My 84 928 saved us from severe injury. My wife and I were just leaving town when an older gentleman decided he was not waiting at a traffic jam the other way and pulled a U turn. The unfortunate part is that he didn't wait for us to go by first. Ladies and gentleman my 84 is trashed ........I T-Boned his vehicle on the passenger side. His vehicle is a right off for sure. The 84 faired very well with both fenders, and hood krinkled, nose cone and lights are done ,windscreen cracked and fenders jammed to the doors. After the collision the 928 was still running and once all the investigation was complete etc the 928 was started and drove onto the tow truck. Do that with your RICE BURNER after a 75km...50 mph collision......I'll keep in touch, how the insurance people here deal with this will be interesting.
Best of Luck ....Bill

Bill -
I echo the others sentiment! Glad you are ok. Keep us all posted on the insurance procedure.
You may want to search the archives - as Scott said - this is the 3rd in recent weeks. I believe at least ONE of the others posted their efforts with the insurance man. You may want to find that post and PM them and get some guidance.

It is depressing to hear of great automobiles wiped out by the acts of individuals that should never have been issued a drivers license. Hopefully you bruised the other driver enough that maybe he will engage the brain before engaging anything else in the future.

Thanks Guys.....My wife is a bit tender where the seat belts made contact, and me a little tender between the shoulder blades. What a terrible experience. I have never been involved in a motor vehicle accident before so this has been quite the day. To all in the USA, I wish a very happy Independence Day, on this the Fourth of July. I guess I'll have a reason now to celebrate with you. I just wish this whole thing was a dream. I had the only 928 in my area and was hoping to go to the Fresh Water Frenzy in Detroit again this year. Oh well, we'll have to see how things go...Thanks for being here guys, all the best.........Bill

Bill,
Glad to hear you and your wife are OK!!
For saving you from injury, I hope your '84 can be made right again - if not, there are lots of sharp eyes here ready to go shopping for you (with your insurance cheque).

Sorry about your loss. Good thing you were in the shark though. It sounds like it could be repaired but who cares, the main thing is you and your wife are okay.

Glad to hear there was an upside and that you and the wife are ok.
Another sHARk getting hammered is obviously not good news.
I'm still working on my son's 81'-his fault- trying my best to make it right and doing it out of pocket can cause a crunch of a different nature.
I have been involved in a number of cross traffic disasters over the years and they all start with the 'Oh No' feeling and then mature into a slow motion geometry problem with the answer printed on the hood.
Sometimes it makes you wish for a blind side hit.
Please keep us posted to the fiscal/medical condition of your 20 year old,
Oi Vay! That this should happen to such a young sHARk.

Bill,
Sorry for your loss - but happy to hear the really important parts of the car survived intact - driver and passenger.
Good luck with the insurance companies.
If it an available option - retain consul ASAP. Tends to make for quicker and fairer settlements (US anyway).

Bill,
So sorry to hear of your crash...but the best part of this story so far is that you are OK as is your wife...and that you're able to share the story with us. I hope that you can get the car repaired but if you cannot...buy it back from the insurer cheaply, part it out, and let the fine folks on this board go to work helping you locate your NEXT Shark.
Best wishes,
Tim
ps.
Florida is full of drivers like the one you encountered...scares me to even think about it.

Thank goodness you're all okay!!!
Just another testament to the structural engineering that went into our cars.
That being said...maybe this is the time you re-focus and go for that 87 S4 you've been eyeing.
