Question Oil Cooler - can it be saved?

My wrench tells me that the oil cooler on my '91 GT has a very slight leak. I haven't seen it yet.

My question, can these things be soldered to be fixed or are they toast when they develop even the slightest of leaks?

Thanks,

Cameron

I'm on my third one. The second one was used and lasted two years and then started to leak. Just put in a brand new (read $$) one a few months ago.

Don't think you'll have much luck getting it fixed, but I still have my old one if you find a place.

Mine had a slow leak for a year before I pulled it out. Cleaned it up and looked to see if it could be fixed. I disn't see how anyone could fix it without putting in aalot of time (time=money) so I bought one from Devek, good price.

seems to be a common problem. mine leaks in the 91 as well and i've been told it's pretty much unfixable. i've considered just going to an aftermarket mocal in a different location to really fix the issue.

Default Cannot Repair them....

I had the same problem, the #^@!%$#& location makes them vulnerable to curbs and parking barriers.

In any event, I took mine to a couple of radiator shops, they tried to repair, but nothing held. You'll have to go with a replacement.

Sorry

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I called two shops that said maybe but they would have to see it and they likely would not be able to guarantee anything. Given the critical nature of this, I decided to replace.

Re location, about two weeks ago, I was making a left hand turn into a parking lot. When pulling in, I noticed how the road dropped off sharply and then the entrance had a steep incline. Oncoming traffic and all, I couldn't take it quite as slow, or on an angle like I would have wanted. When I heard the scrape, I remember thinking to myself that I hope I didn't break anything.
