Cool

OK, OK,… Some of you may not think of Jimmy Buffet as hard drivin music. But I was inspired to pull out Changes in Lattitude, Changes in Attitide and make some notes. Granted much of his stuff is mellow. But Tampico Trauma gets me going on the thoughts of too much fun south of the border Buffet adventures.

So I jotted down some notes while listening. Pardon the mistakes? Some excerpts:

I must look a mess I must admit. but I have been travelin’ quite a bit. South of the border,…with the law and order, skip by Federalis who just grin, tell you they just want to be your friend,… I left for Tampico last July. I jumped off that boat, I almost died. There to greet us were pretty senioritas, I swore that I would not go home then. All those lovely ladies were my friends. Whoo, those sweet chiceetas, they don’t pretend, … c’mon stop me,… (guitar riff, harmonica, piano, drums,...)

That is all I really want to say. I was thrown out of the country yesterday. See I was drinkin’ double, causin’ lot’s of trouble, when the man looked in the window of the bar and grinned. If you come back we just may not be your friend. I don’t want to see you around here again. You come back next time we may not pretend. Hy dee ho boys,… (fade with guitar rif, violins, piano,...)

Great fun!

Then he falls back into nostalgic travel music like Lovely Cruise and Margaritaville.

Can’t forget Son of a Son of a Sailor for mellow traveling music.

Gotta love Jimmy Buffet music.

If I post twice, I get to list three more, right??

So, what I have in the 6 disc changer now is.....

Ray Charles, 2 CD's....Great stuff, God rest his soul.
Jerry Jeff Walker, 2 live CD's
Stevie Wonder, greatest hits stuff
Eric Clapton, greatest hits

Ok, so that's more than 3.

This thread could end up being as long or longer than the 928 Parts game.

Ooooh. There's a good one. "Star Spangled Banner" - see if you can match revs to the music.

I seem to be the only one who listens to almost exclusively to electronic dance music, referred most commonly (and usually incorrectly) as techno or rave music. I'm a fan of progressive, trance, house, and tribal, which is usually a bit slower (usu. ranging from 125-135 bpm).

Favorite DJs/Producers, who usually mix an entire CD seamlessly beat-matching and blending song to song, starting gradually and building to a crescendo, include:

Paul Oakenfold
Tiesto
Ferry Corsten
Deep Dish
Christopher Lawrence
Dave Seaman
Nick Warren

I also like to compile my own libraries then do the same thing, but using computer software (CoolEdit, bought by Adobe to become Adobe Audition) to strech or compress songs to achieve the same tempo, then mixing them together, instead of turntables. It's very much like a soundtrack to a movie you compose in your own mind--and definitely takes you places.

Tangerine Dream did the soundtrack to "Legend," a fantasy-inspired movie with Tom Cruise, Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Mia Sara (Ferris Bueller's Day Off), which was absolutely fantastic. I use to be a big fan of ambient/new age, but like the faster tempo of trance/electronica.
