Default Hatch release question - failed spring?

Hi, my rear hatch has stopped popping up when using the remote opener and / or the key.

It feels like the spring in the catch is not doing it's job but it is moving freely and takes a fair bit of effort to push down manually.

Is this a common issue or am I interpreting the symptoms wrong?

Thanks

The insert is new. The Hatch release dit work after I fitted it. If I push down on the plunger it doesn't get stuck when I release it. I have removed the whole assembly and checked that everything works with the remote release mechanism. The catch on the Hatch bit of the lock is a bit worn (rounded) but not so bad that the Hatch rattle.

Did it stop popping up after you installed the new insert? The fit might be too tight, try a little grease on the rubber insert and see if that makes any difference.

Stopped popping up a few months after.
Opening it with the key it doesn't feel as if anything is catching. I just turn the key and lift.
Will grease it a bit and report back.
