. Car Accident .
Well, just my luck today... shark got hit in the back by some Honda... clipped it pretty nice too... now I gotta head to the insurance place for my appointment and they will assess everything and what not... It's definately fixable by a body shop and some mechanic work but with ICBC, they could just screw me around like they are doing to Lizard right now... I guess I'll see what happens... and this damn thing better not effect my premium! ICBC likes to place blame on both vehicles even though I had every right with the green light and the other car admitted they did something wrong... I just want my car back the way it was, and not have them try to write it off just because of a dent in the back passenger side... I guess more to follow, I'm just way upset right now

Get witnesses. Write a detailed account of the accident before you go to ICBC. Makre sure the account makes sense. ICBC will try to trick you into saying things to make it look like it is partly or all your fault. It is best that you have your version very clear in your mind. Discuss the details with someone and ask them to pick holes in your story.

Jumpydude - sorry you got butt ended; Hoping you have smooth sailing with ICBC .
Scott, In reference to the quote, " .....Lizard931 for his experience with Canadian insurance" - you are partly correct, and if you don't mind, I'll draw up the soap box to elaborate a bit.
As ugly as Lizard's experience became - it was with British Columbia public/government insurance, not Canadian! (ICBC = Ins Corp of BC).
In ~80% of Canadian provinces, one is privelaged to be screwed around by insurance companies in the old fashioned way - by some of the same Private Insurance companies operating all over the North America.( Allstate, State Farm, ING, ......)
Two provinces opted for Public Insurance when under the leadership of more left wing leadership - and it has become one of the social(ist) experiments of the day.
Due to the gouging, profiteering of private insurance companies trying to recover their Reserves (client's cash?) lost in the Market's recession, more provinces are clammoring for a halt to this frenzy - and are demanding public insurance providers be established as in BC!
Public Ins is one of those things that looks good in theory: if it could be sub contracted and operated by managerial minds, it would likely have a better chance: unfortunately, it falls in as a government stirred pot with a civil service mentality.
Nope - the vast majority of Canucks deal in harmony with the same private insurance providers that collected my premiums when living in the USA.

Hmm, 3 days and still no updates yet... the ICBC adjuster is trying to get a hold of the witness... the place where they assess the damage is open 7 days a week so not sure what's taking them so long to get an update on the damage... called them just to make sure my car is still at the assessment lot and not sold off like they did to Lizard's car... I'll be calling them everyday just to make sure because reading his post that time made me all paranoid... oh, and did I mention I hate ICBC? <grumble>

Hmm well the update I have right now is that they will send it to a shop and hopefully there won't be any unexpected or additional damages etc. Only problem is, a lot of the shops doesn't seem to want to work on my car. I was given a few suggestions as to some of the good shops that deal with higher end vehicles, but most of those want to deal with new higher end vehicles, not older ones. (Including MCL) There is one body shop that may take it in but they have a waiting list of a week or two at least. I don't want to be without for that long so I don't suppose anyone out there has any suggestions of what some good places are to get body work and etc. done? In the lower mainland/Vancouver area of course. I'm thinking Craftsman would take anything but hmm, would those guys know what they are doing?
