is it India or Guards Red on a 91?
I was checking the 928GT site and saw that Guards red was not offered on the 91 but India Red was. the paint code is the same though. Is this the same exact color with different names?

Both names refer to the same color. My '90 is India but the code is the same as the code for Guards, and the paint shop uses the same formula for either.

My car has several shades of red on it. The difference between names of colors from year to year may change and some years India and Guards may have been the same, but on the overall scale of things I can say this: India Red is different than Guards Red. Guards compares to Ferrari red, as classically red as it gets. India Red, to my eye has a brown nuance, deeper color but not burgundy or maroon.

The formula changed over the years, but India Red and Guards Red were always the same formula/color. According to the PO, my 911 was repainted using the formula from 1984 because the paint shop didn't have the '83 formula and didn't realize it was different - it's clearly darker than my 928.
The 944 appears to have been repainted in some spots using different formulas as well, but thanks to sun-fade it's more pink than anything. If all goes according to plan, I'll strip down the '44 over the holiday weekend and it's in the paint shop on July 5th. By the end of July is should have new paint, new carpets, and recovered seats. I just have to pick which car I want it to match
