Isn't there a way to report these guys to Ebay and have the auctions removed? Obviously a scam. Why spend 3,000 on an engine and spend another 2,000 on removal? Doesn't make sense...

Hallelujah brother! Sadly enough the name thing is semi-true.

There is a fair amont of sociological science on the idea that your name determines to a certain extent how people react to you, which in turn, helps determine who you are, by your own reaction to them. Fascinating stuff...

(as an aside, haven't these people figured out yet that naming your daughter "Skye" or "Chrystal" is pretty much punching their career ticket for "now, on stage number 1..." ?)

I would be neither shocked, nor surprised if 'Candy' could have a first name of, oh say, John.

Sad but true, these are the little mind-f's that people play every day. Sort of like the 'poor single mom' selling that trashed GTS out of Indy a while back. I'd doubt anybody has ever met her, just her boyfriend/brother/father because she's 'too busy with the kids' of some such crap. I could be wrong, but the odds are strongly in my favor.

I do give hustlers like that a certain amount of respect - they do fool some people and sometimes ones that should/do know better. That is a talent of sorts. Should just be reserved for politicians.

Unfortunately, we seldom kill/mutilate/tar and feather people like Robert Hack anymore, so their numbers will continue to grow for a while.

Fortunately, there's still good people who announce the presence of the snake-oil salesman.

Greg you're killing me!

I loved that whole bit about the poor single mom who just happened up on a masacred GTS. Next thing you know she was going to say she has to sell a kidney now to make up the loss. If she hadn't spent so much on her Mini-Cooper S, and lord knows what else, "she" wouldn't have been in the "bind" "she" was in. The nerve of some people.

As for the name...you read my mind. Some people name their children for normal reasons, like after their aunt or grandmother or something. C'mon who honestly wakes up one morning and pulls "Horatio" out of the air. Somewhere along the way that name became significant. At the same time no one says "I want to name my daughter after dear aunt... 'Lexis' 'PortiaLynn' 'Candy' or whatever her exotic dancing aunts name was.

As a second aside, and this I have almost proven to a science. If you love someone or something, don't have its name or likeness tattooed on you unless in memorium or for nostalgia. You are asking for trouble.

Incidentaly, I could have a friend in Kearney check this out if anyone is interested. Even more interesting is that Kearney is only about 500ft from New York...could be semi-legit.

The ebay seller, grossfox, posted "PLEASE NOTE: This item is available, and interested buyers are free to inspect the engine by request. Interested buyers should determine if any other comparable engine posted on ebay is available for inspection."
- a very polite invitation and no accusation: just a subtle 'heads up - and beware; read carefully!'

Mark . . I agree - there is a paper trailto grossfox. Candy has given me no contact info - not even a real name. He/she also said that they will cover removal AND shipping costs - yeah right. Candy has also said that he/she has several other motors available - which one would I like? Run and hide from Candy

The description of both auctions is too similar, right down to the word wireharness.

Lets muddy the waters a little more.
What if......They are both scams. An ebay version of good cop/ bad cop.
One looks more realistic then the other, we assume that Candy is the scam
artist and think that grossfox really has the engine and buy it. That would explain the same discription, location, etc...???

OKAY...CANDY-CA must have had her account hijacked. The item is no longer for sale and cand-ca is "Not a registered user"!

(I - as well as others, I am sure - reported this to eBay as a potential fraud...THE SYSTEM ACTUALLY WORKS!)
