Default the fight with ICBC is settled

ok so fighting with ICBC over my vandalized and written off 1986.5 928S

they had sold the car without my consent and I ended up going to a manager who knew exotics and he retrieved the car from the ppl it was sold from, however I called the person who bought the car and told them not to TOUCH ANYTHING on the car, well the took the dash and the dash and the seats, that is a major **** off as the interior was in PERFECT condition and I was planning on selling it as a complete kit to someone,

so at this time I took a settlement of pennies shy of $14k -$500 detuctable, plus the car back at no cost and they will pay for the tow to the location at which I am going to part it out, I am having to move it sometime during this week I am going to be putting it at a friends house and he is going to assist in the teardown for the factory set of 16"x7" flatdishes, and then I am going to have a scrap car place remove the vehicle,

I am going to have alot of parts avalible soon however all parts will be offered to 928 owners who are willing to come and pick up (hey Heinrich wanna go for a drive) most of which are in the area, however they will be listed here first before hitting e-bay, unless the mods have a problem with me posting parts as I havent paid the membership fees at this time and in that instance I will be putting them on e-bay and doing it that way,

I am going to state that I am taking the 4 pot suspension and ABS and am going to be dropping it into a 924 chassis and am going to be taking the DOHC V8 5.0L and fabbing up a couple manifolds and completing a twin turbo setup with a 928 tranny in the back moving the engine a few inches forward leaving room for the brake booster and I will be relocating the rad to the back of the car, I will be taking a few photos along the way, I am hoping to see roughly 600BHP out of the engine and I will be taking it to a dyno to get some #s of a tt 928S engine.

Well, I'm glad you got the case settled. And the money does not sound all too bad, even with the seats and dash missing (even though that is like theft)..

But I don't understand how you are possibly going to fit a 928 engine into a 924 chassis. The engine is so wide, I can't imagine it would fit between the front wheels.

Somehow I think a good use of your car would have been to make a Spyder out of it - no? I wonder what that one costs, if you bring a good chassis and engine...

Nicole,

Actually one of the defunct tuner/racer companies was working on a 928 powered 944 when they "decided" to pull the plug on their entire company. IIRC, it does require a bit of 'shoehorning' and a bit of metal fab.

Don't recall the name, of the firm, I'm sure somebody else does. Was shaping up to be a neat beast. Don't think it ever saw the light of day though.

Yep....goto Kellymoss.com and check out the racing page - you'll see pics of the 944 GTR V-8 Monster there.

I believe 2v4v was refereing to the 'defunct' tuner. Derek had been quietly collecting customers parts (and money) before he bailed in the night. Only to show up on Ebay trying to unload items, some that weren't his...
Luckily, I got my stuff back well before the fallout.

Lizard , good to hear you got it resolved . BUT the 944 "project" I have to ask WHY ?? And moving the engine FORWARD would be a really , really bad thing even without any turbos . The rear suspension torsion bar housing which runs from side to side is completely in the way when it comes to mounting the 928 trans ........just for a start . Why not buy an old 78-82 junker 928 and everything will bolt right on it from your car . Do the stripped lightweight street fighter and it would weight 2700 lbs or so with a chassis that can handle big horsepower and everthing simply bolts in place !!! Plus when you are done it is a 928 and would have some value . The 944 project would involve an enormous number of modifications . The Kelly Moss " 944 " is based on a TUBE frame Fabcar built chassis built for Porsche to run Trans Am with a 650 HP 4 cylinder engine which sort of looked like a 944 Turbo engine . The only factory body panel on that car GTR 944 is the Roof skin ...period . You already know how fast your 928 was just imagine how quick it would have been if it weighed 700 lbs less ...the early stripped out 928 . Kelly Moss is very much in business -- I believe Huntley Racing is NOT .

randy understandable,

however at this time Jim, the 924 is what it is going into, the 928 Torque tube is alittle longer than the 924 torque tube, I am not going to be using a 924/944/951 tranny as they will break ALOT faster than a 928 tranny,

the engine will fit as the 924 engine bay is about 2" wider believe it or not, the reason for having the engine forward abit more is due to the brakes, with the engine back there is no room for a brake booster, with the engine forward there will be, another determining this is that I already have a 924 chassis (931 actually) and fabbing will be no problem I have already planned on it, in the front alone it is going to mean new front cross member, different swaybar, motor mounts, etc etc etc, I know

but it is a project, plus trying to find a early 928 body up here in this neck of the woods is hard, also the 924 is able to be gotten alot lighter than the 928 (could probably nock 500lb off what the 928 has)

and I am aware I am going to have alot of work when it comes to the back end as well and I may end up just eliminating the torsion bar carrier and converting to a custom coil over setup kinda like something lindseyracing has made

unless the mods have a problem with me posting parts as I havent paid the membership fees at this time and in that instance I will be putting them on e-bay and doing it that way,
Purchasing a Rennlist memebership gives more back then ebay commissions. Invest in Rennlist and sell the parts here.

Dont quite get it. If you are going to hang around member or not, why not pay the small amount for the Rennlist dues and save yourself the listing commissions you will have to pay Ebay. Seems Rennlist is the cheaper way even if you have had issues.

I considered scrapping my 928 track car project and stuffing the '85 EURO engine I have into my 944 project. After some VERY simple measurements - I was QUICKLY able to determine that there was no way to put it in there without MAJOR mods...In looking at the KellyMoss website....MODS???? That's an understatement!

Here's the link to their 944 V8...

Lizard;

I spoke w/ 3 people at the Hershey swapmeet this year who had done a SBC transplant into their 944's (84, 85 & 88) all of them complained about the adverse handling the extra weight afforded. Especially oversteer (go figure) So, plan on some mods in that department.
