The motor clicks and makes noise like it wants to move but does not. All other functions work fine. Of course the seat is ALL the way back so I cannot get the the rear bolts to remove the seat. Any ideas?

I had an identical problem and posted on the same ~6 weeks ago; It turned out to be that the manuel drive adjustment cog for the fore/aft travel had vibrated out of it's neutral position. In doing so, the two gear sets locked ( like a ring & pinion gear set), and the motor couldn't budge them loose.
Take the 2 screws out of the cover over the very front motor at seat front. Use an Allan key (5 or 6mm) to carefully rotate the manuel adjuster - occasionally bump the power switch, until the spot comes up with teeth missing = 'neutral'. The seat should now work.

Bump the seat switch forward while someone is pushing hard on the back.

Second vote for that. My mechanic had a helper push the seat as he used the manual seat wrench with success.

We had the same problem when we picked up our '83. The seat moved forward but only went about 1/2 way. I'm short so it was a b*tch to get the clutch pushed in - I had to scootch way up till I was almost laying down in the seat. The culprit turned out to be a stray piece of carpet "thread" that had wound itself so tightly around the screw drive that the seat stopped even though we still head the motor running. And that stray "thread" when pulled out was one huge ball of junk - could knit a sweater from it - XL at that. Just one more thing to look at.

I have tried using force to move it and that did not work. I had also removed the plastic cover but did see the allen nut to move the seat manually. I'll check again and try rigging some sort of lever at the seat bottom to make it move.

The workshop manual mentions something about a release under the seat that will allow you to slide it manually. Does anyone know anything about that?

There should be a 1/2" hole in that cover that guides the hex key into the adjuster. The adjuster has 2 white plastic gears within 2" of the motor on the left output cable (the cable outputs from both sides, each one powering a seat track). IIRC, the cable also has a hex nut moulded to it near the motor so that it can be turned with a wrench. The manual sunroof crank in the rear tool kit is also used for the seat (see the Owner's manual).

This is the strangest thing. I knew about the manual adjustment but didn't see it yesterday when trying to get the seat to move. This morning, I checked the seat on the 93 and it has the manual adjustment while the 95 does not. Very strange!

Well...... was loosening the screws to take the motor that controls fore and aft off and b/f I could get the second screw loose, I had to remove the carpet. Had one of the plastic caps that hold the carpet in place off and b/f I removed the other I figured I try it one more time. Guess what, the seat started to move forward! Is this not just typical PORSCHE and the reason we love/hate these cars?

Did the 95 have the tool to adjust the sunroof, or did they get rid of that too?!

Wonder if there are other 95's like that or if they just started to run out of parts towards the end.

I've got the tool, don't know if there is anything to use it on should the need arise however!

Since my 95 (currently #10 of 78) is one of the earlier GTS's built, I'm guessing it only gets worse on down the line!

Equally surprised the manual drive wasn't there! Should it ever happen again, it looks (?) in the pic as if a spring clip is holding the two cable drives on the motor. 'Watercooler' posted about moving his seat by disconnecting these cables and spinning them with a cordless drill.

Hadn't thought of the cordless drill part but that is exactly where I was headed!
