Default What is this wire

I can’t figure out what the green wire is that comes through the firewall and is part of the engine harness. On my 1982 the end of the green wire inside the cabin is disintegrated. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, but it is inside the car. Should it be outside connected to the O2 sensor?

Firewall where the engine harness comes in I think.

The end of the wire. The rest of the plastic crumbled away when I touched it.

It’s the same wire. I just took a picture of where it comes into the passenger compartment. I can take another picture when I get home.

As said, it's the O2 sensor (the broken part goes into the Engine harness to the ECU's.
The part that goes to the actual O2 sensor is the black female rubber part laying in the floor (left side of your pic).
The green wire is a shielded wire, you need a new end and or new engine harness.

Yes, the cut part is about 4 inches from the broken end of the wire.

ok what Dave said
you could strip the insulation back and rejoin the shield and the wire ,
then plug that into the black plug

Kroon sells a repair kit for that green wire if you want to retain the original look and connector:
