I want to make an offer on a 928 but there isn't much in the way of maintenance records so I'm willing to pay for a buyers inspection. I called a local shop and they charge $195 plus 8.5% sales tax (just part of the experience of living in WA state), and it includes a compression check. Is that the going price? If any one is reading this who is from the Tacoma area, do you know of a good shop in Pierce county or South King County?

It would be the best money you ever spent to have a REPUTABLE mechanic who knows these cars check it out. 195.00 is a good price. I have heard higher.
Good Luck.

bailador... You should expect to pay
~$150-250 for a good PPI,
including compression #s and test
drive. I've asked some shops for
an 'eyeball' 1st to determine if a PPI
is even worth being done.
Try Squire's (206)641-3212 in
Bellevue or Robert Larson,
(253)475-3832, in Tacoma.
G'luck.
