Default Hmmm What to do..

Found an euro 80 or 81 forsale, but it needs a lot of help. Coupled with the fact that its an auto and i have enough cars to work on... I just dont know what to do. Thing is I could get it at a price that would be good enough to part it out for, but then thats too much trouble to me. and
I dont have anywhere to put it. heres the nity grity...
Light damage to passenger door and rear fender.
bad repaint, in pearl white, nice color, but it's bubbling and couple small rust spots, plus the spoiler was painted too(and the rubber part of the mirror and its flaking off...
the guy said it was overheating last time he ran it which was 10 years ago.
Guy said he was messing with the dash as the pod was off.
15" phonedials which were chromed but half of it has flaked off.
dont know the milage but the ODO said 28,000 (yeah right)
no sunroof.
if it was a 5 speed id consider it alot more.

I actually thought i was going to look at a 944 at first, if it was a 944 id have taken it as i could tear one apart and put it back to gether blind folded. But CIS is way to much of a pain.

anyway just looking for feedback

Mike,

Run, don't walk from this deal. It could only be worse for you if it were being sold by Robert Hack himself (if you don't know him, just think "evil").

Anyway, buy it and part it, or let somebody who is looking for a track shell have it.

This is not a winner unless the price is under about $300. Even then, it'll
be a money and time pit. Somebody out there needs a pit like that, just would bet it ain't you.

Good luck,

Greg

Mike,

Door, rear fender work, and crappy respray fits *my* definition of "wrecked". At least at that age. Yours may differ.

The lack of a sunroof makes it a desirable shell for somebody looking for a track car, and the body work is no big deal in that scenario.

Just know it'll take a lot of time and $ if you try to make it streetable again.

Talk of any usefullness of course, heavily presupposes that the engine is something other than a big lump of $.032/pound down at your local Reynolds Recycling Mart.

I just see lotsa downsides and little, if any upside - other than as a track car. Then, MAYBE. Just maybe. Otherwise, sadly 'tis just a bunch of parts in one easy to load onto a flatbed package.

Good luck,

Greg
