Tuk_928:

This weekend I saw a 993 Ruf with 3M clear plastic on the entire hood, not just the lower front portion. There was an almost invisible seam down the center of the hood. Otherwise, the installation was undetectable. Very nice and certainly better than stone chips. It was on a dark color car which made it all the more successful.

Thanks Ron Appreciate the info on the 3M film. Since my Shark appears to has been resprayed at some point...not sure how well this stuff would work for me. The paint is not baked on like a factory paint job would be....hence it might come-off when the film is removed. Ugh...I'm so sick of looking at rock chips. Going to add mirror bras to the car soon...won't look bad against the guards red paint.
Cheers,
Tim

The 930 has rear flairs which protrude and are therefore are vulnerable to stone chips ......the 928 does not . That would make these stick on "stoneguards" purely cosmetic . That being the case why stop with just one per side ? A row of them from front to back would look a bit like waves and appropriate for the "shark" ........ I did see a website where you can order decals of fender louvers (The BMW type) as well .... then of course the bullet hole decals seem popular as well in certain circles ........... Do what you want to your own car but taking functional styling cues from other cars and sticking them on your car for " looks " seems a bit like stuffing a sock in your shorts ........ false advertising .

Hello Mr. Baily. Nice typing to you. I'm going purely for looks alone. You see, I just can't stand the shape of rear wheel well! Dated- Audi 5000.! Looking for something to fool the eyes;at least mine. Have major GTS fender envy.BTW............. No need for socks... Mr. NYDolfan. Thanks for the your work on the pics. Nice car-the wheels must be a real pleasure to clean. That fin is a little different than the other one. Kind of reminds me of the Countach rear fender. Interesting. Mike.

Mpesik I know how you feel about the GTS 1/4 panels I added them to the widebody 1980 project then flared them a bit more , the 18x10 rims use a a 2 inch spacer ...later date it may get some really wide wheels If I ever get it finished

I do not like the 928 wheel-wells either with it's too wide flattend top and 'squared' corners.

With that said, the posted pictures with the 'stone-guard' in place exacerbates it further by giving the impression of extending the flattened top of the wheel-well even more so than it already is.

The 930 rock guard is the starting point not an absolute. Perhaps the top of the fin can be heightened and the top aft side lengthened into a type of radi that could conceal the square. The first pictures -In my opinion add a distraction from the square. =better to me. The second vehicles horizontal half fin has no spacing in between the fender and itself. That is a mistake . It obviously will fool the eye and will lengthen the wheel well ala Lamborghini Countach 500. 1985. I will be making some designs and will be posting them soon. They could look like shi%t or jewelery. You people tell me! After you give me your opinion..please post a pictue of your wife or girlfriend so I can make a judgement on you taste. That tells me everything. Mike. S.T.P
