Jim... in Deutschland the kiddos are
threatened with sticks and lumps of
coal for misbehavior. The "ordnung"
kiddies get the goodies.
On Dec. 6 evening our landlord had
a pre-season party and the children
present were reminded of the custom-
sort of a heads up for right behavior.
"Shape up or Nikolaus will leave you...."
We lived south of Frankfurt/M. but I
think this was a Germany-wide custom.
