Question Bosch (Blue) Coil- Interchangable?

Early evening, 5th day of steady rain - decided to remove some covers to prep for a TB job, or at least see if anything unusual is needed on an '80 16v. Mostly done to check on the timing marks, tension, and see if Porken's timing gear mods would be required!
In the process, pulled the coil wire to find a 10mm piece of the coil wire connector remaining in the coil's tower - plus a mini coil spring.
So, time to locate another coil wire - and another coil if the bits decide to remain fixed inside the coil (yet to be determined).
The Bosch # is 0 221 122 001. Likely more readily available is the Bosch "Blue" coil, frequently touted as a performance upgrade for a variety of cars..
Is the "Blue" coil interchangable with the OEM Bosch unit? - is there more than one part #?- or are there major differences in windings, etc - or are any other more readily available coils adaptable? TIA

PS - good thing that the wire's rubber boot is a tight fit. Everything was held tightly within the tower - and may have been that way for years! Ignition performance was fine - but it's not going back together like that.
