But recommendations for specific parts that are useful is quite useful, thanks!
The hose I got from a store on a long trip from their warehouse..was a uro...got home 2k miles later, and it had failed somewhere on the inside, and was rapidly leaking coolant out the nylon strings on both ends of the hose.

It did what it needed to for about 5 days tho.

Similarly on electrical parts (fuel relay on my old W126 Mercedes) they have been junk in my limited experience.
That's the general rule of thumb every shop I know goes by. Anything electrical / mechanical you start with the dealer and work your way back based on price & availability. The only URO parts we've ever used here is when OEM is not an option, at any price.

For reference, here is the URO catalog (they are part of APA Industries). You can search the catalog by make/model/year and it lists every part they make.

It's time to refit my 93 GTS for R134a and it currently has a URO dryer.

I'm going to replace it with another USO part unless somebody has had a bad experience.

The Behr driers are made in China IIRC, or at least they were for the 16V cars. A Uro part shouldn't be any different in quality so long as it doesn't release the beads...

Made in China is not a blanket bad thing. When OEM manufactures there is due to price differential and usually requires a set standard. Remember, your iPhone and many products you buy are made in China… Chinese manufacturing has different SKUs of products from Tier 1 to garbage. Unfortunately, OE usually lands on the bottom bin (aka garbage). OEM is a different story altogether (top SKU usually). My 5c.

It still leaves me apprehensive about using genuine Porsche power steering lines that say made in China on them.

It's the history of producing crap that doesn't leave me confident in their parts. But things are getting better so long as the OEM is in complete control and not getting parts from a fly by night factory.

Several years ago, I bought a URO part - don't even remember what it was - but It seemed to me to be of poor quality. Thus I haven't bought another URO part since.

For my Porsche/Mercedes/Mini, I have frequently bought OEM manufacturer parts (e.g. Lemforder), but try to avoid general aftermarket items UNLESS other users (or parts suppliers) here on Rennlist have had good experience with them. Thus, I'd buy the URO items above recommended by Kevin, Michael and Greg based their experience.
