Those metal Armrest reinforcements from Mark A. are JFB, and well worth the price for a pair of them. Someone went to a great deal of fine design and fabrication work to come up with them. However, in this case I think they are going to solve about 85% of the OP's situation since in addition to needing this reinforcement he also needs some help in a sort of perpendicular way to these plates and in the area of reinforcing where the articulating arm rest/compartment lid is fastened to the armrest and where his screws and nuts are pulling out. That may be a simple addition to installing the plates, but I think it is in fact in addition.
