Angry headlights go up but no light..

My 1983 928 S (EURO) is fighting my mechanic at the moment...

We just replaced the Alternator and ducting as the Voltage regulator was shot... went to test the load / charging and the front headlights are now not working.. They flip up but not light..

The bumper lights all work, including High beam which I didn't realise is down there...

Reverse light is erratic. but thats a whole different investigation as far as I know!

Mechanic is going through all the fuses in the morning but wanted to see if any bells are rung here?

Mechanic pulled the dual relay... and said it smells bad. As far as I know, this relay lifts the headlamps AND turns on the lights???

Yes, that relay controls both the raised/lowered position and power to the lights. .

take the HL relay apart and clean all 4 of the relay contacts inside,
put deoxit 100 on the contacts and the pins,
plug it back in see if it works
