What's with the plywood on every door? did they cut every unit open?
yeah they did apparently. I think they had to check for fire in each unit or perhaps just contents. Glad i had the car covered. I envision sparks of steel from whatever machine cutting the door/locks landing on the car then a bit of water...rust etc.
it was a bit nervy.
I was getting a lot of interference from the steel building. I launched in a parking lot next door , behind a wall. I knew there were trees and branches that over hung the alley in front of my unit. I had to approach from one side or the other.. The proximity sensors on the drone (Mavic Air)were going off all the time. It served its purpose!

I'm blown away that they are blocking you from accessing your unit for almost 2 months after the fire. It might be time to get an attorney involved. this is crazy.
If it's a possible arson case, "chain of custody" of evidence is a huge deal to the Fire Marshall who would be prosecuting... anyone disturbing opening, being allowed in gives the defense attorney an edge.. FD cuts a big triangle to easily open these doors.. My guess, ( 38 years Irving Fire Dept TX ) is with no visible outer signs of smoke, and the fire being above you, (most heat rises) , you're gonna be mostly okay... I would go back to the stations and shift that were there with BBQ or Hooters wings and see if the guys would tell you what they found when they opened yours.. If they flowed a lot of foam, it can be pettty nasty stuff.. Good Luck!! Ken
Well…to finally close out this drama in my life. The car survived completely intact.
August 31st to Nov 9th I didn’t know the fate of my car or was even allowed on the property.
The fire went right over the top of it on the second floor. I’m glad I had a cover on it. There was some water damage to our furniture that was sitting up against the wall but the car didn’t get wet, just a few drips from the upper floor that made it through the concrete and onto the car cover that protected the paint. The water was a solution of whatever was being burned. Thankfully this car as all 928s are damn near air tight it seems…no eveidence of smoke smell inside either. It really did look like the day I parked it.
thank you for all your concern and those that reached out personally. We have a great group of owners and cars here. Thank you.
longest 30 seconds of my life waiting for the doors to be removed…
