Very nice. They have a great looking inventory of exclusive well kept cars. Nice pics of your S4 on the site What's the back story on your decision to become a exclusive 928 owner and why the 89? Welcome to the club!

Thx. I have always admired the 928s. When I “retired” a few years ago, I got my wholesale dealers license to have a business that supported one of my interests, cool cars!

since then I have swapped in and out of a 996tt,997tt cab, GT4, 718 spyder, RSR tribute,gt4 clubsport….as well as a few other brands in similar taste…

I bought my first Porsche in 1992, an 87 Carrera coupe and drove it all over the Bay Area as my “sales wagon” for 6 years. I sold it for more than I paid for it. I loved that car. At the time I could not afford the 928. It was the better car for that mission…. Now I get to hopefully drive this one all over the wine country, to and from the race tracks ( it will NOT be a track car).

I believe this will be a keeper. I wanted a fully refreshed one. I felt the 89 was the best S4 from the little research I could find. Manual, LSD, Sport shocks, Linnen , cup wheels and even a PCCM? Felt like the right car and I had a good inside person I trust who knows Ryan and trust him/the car.

I’ll keep you guys posted on the experience….

Default Additional clarity on production request

Rob, thank you for the details. What I really want to see is a more thorough breakdown of cars by features. For example, someone posted that in 1989 41 cars had manual, lsd, sport shocks.

is there a matrix or spreadsheet that an owner can see how many cars are exactly like theirs?

for example mine is black with Linen. How many black w linen? How many black w linen w 5 speed……. This would be awesome if it exists.

if you can direct me to a resource that would be awesome. Thank you

There's no comprehensive database of all options and color codes for all 928s of all years. There are are partial datasets for all the options but not for all the colors. I can tell you there were 1189 US/Canadian market 1989s, 201 non-GT 5-speeds, 873 automatics, and 115 GTs. Of the 201 5-speeds, 128 had limited slip diffs. Of those, 41 had sport shocks. Of those, 14 had the CD-2 radio. And of _those_, only 1 (yours) has platinum anodized wheels.

I do know the color distribution for the '89 GTs, and basically half (56 of 115) were black, and 8 out of 115 had the linen interior. Assuming the proportion was similar among the 5-speed S4s, there would have been a lot of black ones but maybe 15-ish linen interiors.
