Default pre 1982

Hi

Are there many pre 1982 cars around?

do we know when the 928 stopped fitting 15" wheels as standard?

do you have the 15" wheels? If so Pirelli have made the 215/60VR15 CN36 tyres again.

https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cla...rsche/928.html

we also have the 16" P7 as well.

There were a few at the 928 Rendezvous in Columbus.

You can use this tool to check out what wheels were produced for what vehicle: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/porsche/928/. Shows 84 as first year 15 isn't marked. the advantage of this page is it gives you offsets and other information.

I have a excel spec sheet I downloaded a long time ago, possibly from 928oc. it only shows 15 for 81-82, which seems wrong.

My '81s had 16" anodised manholes on it that I think were original

I can't speak for the 15"s, but from 1980-1986 you got the 16" front and rear flat disks. According to one of my books the flat disks were standard on the S initially but then moved to optional equipment when the MSRP ballooned. They then returned to standard fit a couple of years later. Early finish was the anodised platinum and later went to matte silver (possibly with the introduction of the S2?).

The 16" dials were from 1978-1986 (optional equipment for the S/S2 except for the aforementioned where they switched it around). Finish was originally a matte silver then went to glossy 'clear' finish in 1980.

Welcome any corrections. There used to be some debate on wheels but I think we have worked them out now.
