Default Spal 16" Electric Fan for sale

I have a complete Spal 16" fan assembly that will bolt directly into the early 928 to be able to replace the mechanical fan. This unit is used, but just for maybe 500 miles or so. It will come complete with the mounting kit and relay setup to bolt right into the car, no holes or drilling required and will fit right behind the fan housing.

The Spal is the best aftermarket electric fan available today, period. New would be at least $165 with the Hella relay package. The harness has been custom fitted to the 928 and is wrapped in black cloth tape.

$100.00 takes the whole deal. First PM takes it, you pay shipping and send a money order for the total.

http://www.spal-usa.com/html/dampframe.htm

It is the 16" high performance pull fan...

I went back to the mechanical fan. My only reason for changing this was because I thought I would have to remove the front electric fan with the larger intercooler, this was not the case.

No. You can't see it unless you look forward under the fan housing that is there. There is more room to work under the hood with it installed becasue the fan bearing housing and mechanical fan is gone. The wiring is also hidden quite well.

I don't have any pics but I can tell you my experience converting to Electric. I run a dual fan system from a 2001 Corvette. This has worked very well for me. The shroud the fans come in fits quite well over the radiator with minimal cuts to the shroud. The fan is controlled by an aftermarket adjustable fan controller.

I've hit 90 deg F stop and go traffic with A/C full blast with the temperature rock solid just over the first white line. I also have unhooked the A/C electric fan in front of the condensor. I am planning to remove it completely but am waiting for 100+ deg F temps to make sure I won't need it.

All in all, a very positive experience. I got the fans off of ebay for just under $100.

Anyone ever tried replacing the air pump with an electric motor, and a fixed fan (no clutch)?

Here's what I did...

If I were to do it again, I would probably install it as a puller fan on the backside of the radiator. But it is definitely convenient to wire on the frontside of the condensor as the stock elec fan was located there.

My temperature is good. I have installed the 75 deg. t-stat and temp sensor, use Zerex G-05 coolant and Redline water wetter. My temp gauge reads just above the first mark. We haven't had HOT days in Michigan yet, so I have no reference to that.

Spal make a good fan. I believe Rob from Detroit (the guy w/the sweet LT hybrid) uses a Spal dual puller setup.

Jadz928,

This is exactly what I need to do for the AZ heat. Do you have any write ups or pics to go on!

My shark will run fine on the freeway with AC on full but in traffic it gets to hot very quickly when the temp is 95+
