I'm spoiled. Since we got the 'shark'
(9/03)& drove it home from So.Cal, I've
been thrilled with how it started(one
of the features that 'sold' the car).
The engine seldom cranked longer than
a half second; turn the key and vrroom,
even after sitting a week or two.
Now that I just replaced the fuel injector
hoses the cranking takes 2, 3-5 seconds
before it lights off. Letting the pumps run
a few seconds before cranking seems to
shorten the time.
Did I upset the fuel system somehow?
Is it an air bleed issue? Will it improve
with time? Is there some adjustment
somewhere? (I should have taken fuel
system pressures before & after the job)
I just had mine all apart as I replaced the vacuum lines and the injector seals. One thing I ran into is you have to be sure you get the main intake body in the seal. Mine was also starting hard and I noticed in the rear that the rubber seal had "bent" inwards and was not totally sealing. I took it back off and worked it on again......now starts and runs like a champ again,
