Default Late Intermediate Plate Mod?

I tracked down an NOS intermediate plate in my quest to have enough hard parts stocked to run this car for another 30 years. The seller said it was the late-model part, but it ended up being the pre-LH version.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between these two plates are the posts that trigger the TDC test port that nobody uses anyway, since the CPS signal comes off of the flywheel. I know the pins are differently sized for the late plate to correctly locate the intermediate in relation to the flywheel. If I had a machine shop modify the mounting holes, would the only loss of function be the obsolete test port that nobody has the tool to read anyway? Could I just have the machine shop use my old plate to transfer over the posts in their correct locations anyway, turning this plate into a late plate? I really like the idea of having factory-fresh H-adjusters.

Can anyone with access to the Super-PET find out if these are NLA forever, or just on back-order for an eventual return?
