I will make it easy on you (OP) then, seems you want to do a swap. I have a 1983 5spd roller, with everything you need for a swap, all the way down to the shift ****. Has complete firewall you can cut where you want, master, slave, pedals, crossmember, lines, torque tube, tranny, etc. Everything factory you need, from the same year car.. I will trade you that and some cash for your car. PM me.

Go for it!
I myself have a 84 Euro S with transmission swap to a fivespeed GT gearbox.
Before, the car was dangerous because the kickdown wasn‘t predictable, to much torque in a second and the missing 5. gear was also a concern here in Germany.
The auto box hasn‘t a clutch to bridge the torque converter, this transmission with the rubber band feeling is something for a W107 or R129.

The 5 speed, especially the original 5 speed in my 86 S has also it‘s flaws, with really hot oil the first and second gear are shifting hard with the use of to much force.
No grinding but Greg B. Told us a while ago the oiling of the synchronization isn‘t state of the art. The solution was carbon fiber synchros.

That‘s my opinion but I drive my cars fast and like to shift.
Most of the time I use the two 928 and the Audi S8 D2 sits in the barn because the 5 speed automatic isn‘t so much fun and this box is more sophisticated than the 928 automatic one.

I already have access to everything for the swap and why would I trade a fully running car for a parts car? Some logic missing there.

Read my entire post. More logical: " I will trade you that and some cash for your car."

I did read it. Make no sense for me to trade my car even with case for a parts car or a car that needs parts and work. I already have everything to convert my car to a manual if I choose. Or I could sell my car a buy a manual car. But swapping my car for a parts or project car is not logical.

everyone has their shorts in a wad over a simple bracket. factory parts swapped and a bracket added. BTDT. easier than a timing belt change. its not going to change the value in a negative light, unless it is a GTS with 5K miles. swap it and drive the hell out of it.

It might actually increase the value on most driver 928's.
