The only real difference is the 84 computer. As stated above they have odd internals. In 85 they were nearly identical. All 84-86 are LH2.2 anyway.

Why would Porsche go through the effort of having 2 different computers engineered for the same model year when a chip swap will accomplish what they needed with less effort and cost from Bosch?

The brain boards are DIFFERENT - https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ml#post2352185

When I open my mouth on any subject it's because I know what I am saying, here or on any other board. And if I don't know something I read and learn from others who do.

I have been down this road when I bought my car 20 years ago. I told Bnking what to do. My euro was the best running euro! Fast as f--- and clean as can be. That took a lot of work and study. I guess you do remember normy??? I never saw the pics, HE WOULD BE CELEBRATED NOW by some of our mods!! He had a Frankeneuro with a US brain, nothing but trouble!!!!!!

So you want to give a US brain to a euro with new chips, coding who knows what else. So you got a frankenbrain thinking it's in a US car. The ENGINES are different, different compression, different cams, different combustion chamber shapes, different distributors......................... and you think it will run right? Never did for normy, first lean then rich, a mess.

bottom line you are wrong, even rookie level thinking ANY euro's 16V came with cats, where did you get that?

I've been running the US LH/EZ with John's chips for 10 years🫢
(At his recommendation). I think if anyone knows anything about these it's John.

and the link I gave showed you THAT IS NOT TRUE( Rich was schooling John)

The boards are DIFFERENT! The way the cars run are different!

I constantly see comments here over the years about cars that will get beat by a family sedan, that can't spin their tires, yadda yadda ya................................ I used normy's experience as an example as how a frankencar was lousy then good then lousy.

WHY WOULD ANYONE USE A FRANKENBOARD IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO??? and you don't.

A ride in my car when I had got everything right would be an eye opener to at least 90% of 928 owners!
