Default Speedo Issues - Speed Pulse Test Help

Ok - I’ve been diagnosing a nagging speedo issue for a while. I just did a pulse test with the reed magnet sender and I’m only getting four tones at 12-3-6-9. I know there are six magnets and I presume I would be getting six tones. Is the test wrong or do I have some bad or missing magnets in the diff?

Is the other tire on the ground? I'm guessing that it is, and your only getting half the revolutions of the ring gear that you are turning on the marked tire.

Also, my understanding was that there were 8 magnets, which would work out with the differential dividing the rotation in half.

the car is on a 2 post lift. Both rear tires are on the air.

This is a picture of my other 928. There are 8 magnets.

If both wheels are turning together, you might have four missing magnets, but that sounds implausible. I'd check the rotation first, or immobilize one and turn the other through two rotations.

With them being even quarter rotations presently, it sounds like they're most likely all present and not moving at full wheel speed.

its an LSD diff. The previous owner swapped the open for LSD. That’s when all the speedo problems started happening. It was a mixture of issues. I have resolved some of the other issues. I have another thread detailing that.
