Hello All, my 1991 porsche s4 has no visible vin numbers, the tag on the driver door is worn out as well as the sticker in the front of the engine bay. is there ay other way to find the vin number. my diagnostic tool does not give the vin number either. anybody have any ideas
Is your '91 a US market car or a Rest of world car? The US models will have the door jamb VIN sticker, another doorjamb sticker with the VIN and a barcode (there may be one in the passenger side door jamb as well), and the plate on the A-pillar. There may also be a production number stamped on the body at the forward edge of the spare tire well.
ROW '91s will have a plaque by the hood latch, but no A-pillar tag. Not sure where else.
What VIN is on your title, your bill of sale, or your insurance policy?
so i am in antigua in the caribbean, the registration documents mention a vin number. I checked the vin number on the registration but it does not exist. also there is a sticker in the driver door and also on the front frame under the hood but both are not legible, i am sure the registration doecs are not correct, they even specify engine type as 3.5 liter. this happens when the car is registered with the government but they do not have the correct documents they basically make up a vin number. any other required info. i am wondering if there is another way to identify the vehicle.
Please post pictures of the worn-out tag on the driver's door, the interior/dash, a side shot of the car, a picture of the rear cargo area with the carpets and padding removed, and the engine compartment. If you can't post pictures here, email them to me at roberte01@gmail.com and I'll post them here so we can figure out what you have.
these are the only 2 visible stickers on the car, both are completely worn oit, their is no vin tag at the front windshield or on the door jamb, the car was originally shipped to japan and then somebody bought the vehicle and shipped to antigua and barbuda where i live. the vin number on my registration is not the correct one as i have gone online and entered into a few sites that identify vin numbers, it says wrong vin number.
i checked the fender and it does not have any mrkings on the fender, i will check the battery compartment and under the dash as soon as i get back to the car thank you

Well, you will have to remove the dash...so that wont work that easy.
