Default Dead Temp Setting Motor

Completed a AC refurbish.

AC blows very cols at start up. I found a couple of problems.

The setting motor are does not move. Stuck on full hot.
The hot water valve has separated.

Did a couple of setting motor tests. Get battery power at the harness (11 and 3 ). Infinite between 4 and 12. Broken sensor string.

My puzzlement is the non-moving setting motor.

The other times I've delved into hot air all the time the arm would swing to full cold with the temp slider at the coldest setting and any movement off full cold the setting motor would move to full hot.

Am I wrong expecting that behavior with a broken sensor string?

Could the setting motor be dead?

Kevin

Have you tested the temperature sensor inputs? If those are not working, nothing tells the motor to move..IIRC

Looked into the console wiring. No radio lets me get to the wires without removing the PS console cover.

And the first thing I noticed was the inside temp sensor connector was disconnected. I connected it and I am getting what I expected. Full cold moves the lever down. Anything less and I get full heat.

This is kind of what I was expecting. Not sure why the PO disconnected it.

On to testing the outside sensor.

Mad Props to @drscottsmith !

So, I ran continuity from the 4 and 12 at the setting motor to the thermistor. I have continuity on both sides to the connector.

I Ohm'd the thermistor and it came back at about 1.3~. I have another on the shelf and it ohm'd at ~.576. The one in the car is out of range.

I went back to testing the loop to the outside sensor to the 4 wire connector. I have got continuity - didn't before.

Ohm'd the same connector with the ignition on and ohms ranged from .18 to .16. That is not right?
