Clutch Pedal Replacement

Clutch Pedal Replacement
I'm a new user and have searched the 928 Forum, but have not been able to find anything on this particular topic, if it's there and someone sends me a link then I apologize in advance.I've been battling shifting issues on my '83 928S 5-spd since the day I purchased it. I've had the transmission synchro's replaced by Greg Brown at Precision (really great guy), but this is didn't resolve the issue associated with the level of effort and grinding feeling associated with going into 2nd/3rd. Then one day I noticed while sitting in a parking lot that when I put it into 1st, with the clutch in, that the car started to roll forward, even with the "clutch in" i.e. clutch pedal down to the floor. At this point I realized the problem was over my head, so I ordered a new slave, master, blue hose and hydraulic line (master to slave). The mechanic working on my 928 found that the clutch pedal had a crack in it. Subsequently, I purchased a clutch pedal from Roger @ 928’s R-US (also a great guy). The new clutch pedal is much beefier than the previous one and slides right in with the same mounting points, but is interfering with the mounting bracket (built into the chassis) to the extent that there is only about 1” of travel. See attached picture.
Roger said that Porsche recognized a manufacturing defect and subsequently designed this new pedal, which is great. However, the reduced clearance associated with the interference must have been an issue others have experienced back in the day.
New one is on the left
Have you perhaps had any experience with this fitment issue and if so, how did you resolve it?

did you modify the new master cylinder for more stroke , by shortening the piston to 75MM as well as the spring,
and replace the release arm bushing
I dont know what the clutch pedal issue is

I dont know what the clutch pedal issue is

Can't speak about the new pedal, but mine broke right off on my '82. I made a "plug" to fit into the "hollow" and welded it back together. Working great ever since.

I, too, had the "rolled and seam welded sheet alloy" clutch pedal break OFF on my '82 leaving me stranded. Replaced it with the cast version on the left in the OP's post. That was about 10 years ago, but I don't remember having any fitment problems...

I was lucky, it broke off at home.

I was pre-running my route for the tour I was leading for the first ever PCA "Escape" (Escape to Wine Country). My pedal broke off somewhere near the Sonoma/Napa County line - literally in the middle of nowhere. I managed to flag down a passing motorist and used their cell phone to call AAA. Asked for a flatbed and they sent out a rig with a hook instead (I surmise it was so they could claim they responded within their guaranteed time). Sent the tow rig back and then waited for HOURS until the promised flat bed arrived. First and only time my '82 failed to make it home under its own power.

We have compared the two levers and all the mount points and clearances are the same. Fitment should be plug and play.
As Mr. Merlin said my first thought was piston stroke but the mechanic doing the job says not. He states that the pedal does not fit and also binds.
Up to 86 there is only one clutch pedal so I have no idea what is going on here.
