I seem to remember somewhere someone mentioning Japan spec cars (maybe others too) did not come with a build sticker in the trunk.
I've noticed my 1992 Japan spec car does not have the build sticker in the trunk, and no vin sticker or color code sticker on the driver door jam, and no emission / vacuum diagram stickers on the hood
I'm curious if this is supposed to be this way or were they removed? Anyone know? @Rob Edwards do you know?
Michael,
my ex Japan RHD 1990 S4 has the colour code sticker only (On the LH Door jamb which is the passenger one for my car). All the rest you mention are MIA. No evidence they were ever there.
Only factory stickers are alarm (x2), headlight aim, tyre pressure, firing order & factory lube fill.
I have liked at a number of Japanese imports and observed unique application of stickers. After a brief search of my archives, I realize that I have not documented them. I do recall the following:
1. Most have a MIZWA sticker at the base of the rear window in the center, (mizwa was the importer).
2. There were stickers on the upper door upholstery on the drivers side.
I will continue to look through the thousands of 928 photos I have archived and hope to find some additional documentation for you.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info. Yes, my car does have the Mizwa sticker on the rear window. I really love to get a Mizwa license plate frame but it have yet to find one.
Tangent Alert: I have an interesting story about Mizwa and my car. Earlier last summer, a man reached out to me on Instagram and informed me his father used to be an owner or manager at Mizwa and that he remembers his dad importing my car. Apparently, it was ordered by a female pop star in Japan, “Shizuoka Kudo”. She loved the color purple and she had Ferrari f355 with purple interior as well. The kid also had some early photos of my car, check it out. I appears the windows were tinted at one time and the calipers were painted very early on. Kind of a cool story. The "kid" now has two Japanese 928's both LHD.
Here is an example of the warning stickers you referred to that were on the driver's door. My car no longer has these stickers but there is evidence they were there. The sticker on the left refers to the airbag system. The sticker on the right refers to the Japan-specific temp warning system for the catalytic converter.

Hello Michael, not that you would go this route but I have a whole file full of new stickers for my car once it is painted. I am sure they would be able to recreate anything you wanted to have done.

Thanks for the offer, before I go adding the stickers, I wanted to find out if it was a factory thing to not include stickers, or if they were omitted. I found a vendor that can re-create most of them if needed. But if they were never there in the first place I may just leave them off.
My 928 is a 1988 model, RHD, and was for the Hong Kong market (C15).
I do not have the vacuum line sticker for under the bonnet (it may have been removed or never had one).
The option code sticker is in the back by the battery (but unreadable).
This sticker (colour code?) is on the LH door jamb (passenger side).
This one is on the RH (drivers) door jamb (VIN?).
And yes, if any one knows where i can get reproduction stickers let me know as all three are almost unreadable.
I had forgotten about Carbone................a few years ago ordered some engine bay stickers for my 964.
Also found a french company: https://www.classics-stickers.com/en/
I have contacted a few local 928 owners and the consensus is that Japanese spec cars did not come with the option code sticker in the trunk, did have the Mizwa sticker on the rear window, paint code sticker on the left door jamb, VIN bar code on the right jamb.
Someone also noted that the cars often had more options than that noted according to the VIN.
thanks for sharing those pictures of your awesome 1992 928. The fact that it was originally exported by MIZWA to Japan makes it truly special!
My 1994 911 was also exported to Japan by Mizwa. Apart from the MIZWA sticker in the rear window, all Porsche typical stickers (build sticker in trunk, VIN sticker in passenger door jam, ...) came with the car when it was exported from Japan to me in Germany.
Since I got the car, I try to get some informations or even MIZWA related documentation about my car. The story about the son of a MIZWA owner/manager who contacted you on Instagram made me thinking. Do you know, if he still has some documents or old registry of VINs from MIZWA? Could you get me in touch with the gentleman?

Thanks for doing the legwork, I appreciate that. With this information, I'll likely order the Paint Code and Vin sticker. Since you have access to a few Japanese spec cars.
