How to Use Jack Stands?

I think I have a few "sets" of 2x4 scrap that fit nicely in the 928 jack point and also in the saddle of the stand. Nothing amazing about them, just some short cutoff ends maybe 3 or 4 inches long.

I did some digging on the 'Net last year on this very topic. I was looking for two things: something to adapt standard jack stands to the 928 lift points; and something to fit the head of a small floor jack to cushion it while lifting.
I too have adopted the hockey puck as the main solution: cut one down a bit to fit in the cup of my small floor jack for general use. I have a standard sized one with a circumfrencial groove chewed around one edge that I use on the 928 and Audi A4 jack points. I also use them with a slot cut in one side to fit the jack stand head. You can easily drill a few holes and wire them oneto the jack stand head too.
But I did find someone else in the Porsche community that had a much more elegant solution to both. See the Boxster owner website link below for the details. Nice idea and I agree that a similar do-dad for the 928 lift points would probably sell.

KLA Industries (http://www.klaindustries.net/) used to have a lift point extension listed on their site for the 928 and 944, but it is no longer there. Basically a rubber cylinder that fit up inside the round lift point and then expanded via a bolt to keep in place. Nice idea, assuming the lift points have not already been crushed by hydraulic lifts (like some of mine)!
