History Information on 1991 928 GT - US - WP0AA2925MS810249
Hi all,
i wanted to see if anyone has the history on this US Spec GT. VIN WP0AA2925MS810249.
Long story short is that my friend picked it up from an auction in Dubai where is was listed through a known classic dealer and through a well known website. I took a look at the car, and noticed some issues that needed addressing (nothing major.. but some turned out troublesome). Dealer listed it as having previously a small right fender repair. When we took the car to address some issues I noted, it seems to have had a front right side fire with smoke residue and melted components.
I would like to see if anyone knows more about the history of this unit.

I don't know anything about this particular car's post-sale history but that is likely a unique color combination for a '91 GT. It appears to have sat around for quite a while, production completion date was 11-5-90, but the new car warranty didn't start until 10-6-92.

Thank you Rob,
I am trying to get the history on the car before the auction and while it was in the US. Apparently it had some sort of accident and went undriven since 01/2016 (date or reported accident) until purchase in 2023. We were told that the front right fender was repainted due to accident. However now that it is in service, we took the front bumper off and it seems the car has seen some kind of fire in the front right; not sure how that started but I am assuming it was induced from outside inwards based on the observations:
There is no smoke or fire inside the engine compartment, though the hardware is all new and has upgraded dampers (928SRUS type) which can be replaced. The engine block, plastic components are all original and do not show any heat/smoke or deterioration etc…
We are fixing all items and wish there was a dry ice machine locally to clean it up well but no luck so far. Besides that the car runs super smooth and the gear is like butter, zero crunching and very very smooth. The car is in a spectacular shape overall.
The has added maybe 500 miles since the 2016 reported “accident”
Would be great to know what really happened if anyone knows the previous owner or who purchased the new engine diaphragms etc.. maybe they can shed some light on the history.

- Front Bumper is replaced with new - beading is glued on!
- The front right section shows smoke and melting of parts…
- Lower part of the right headlight is smoke covered
- Front section right under the right fender is smoke covered and the front part of the chassis shows cracks to the paint (heat induced)
- Horns have melted plastic surrounds
- wiring is new, but there are older wires which exhibit head/flame induced bubbles/stripping
- Metal bumper bar on the right and underneath have heat and smoke remenants
- washer tube in the bumper to the right near the nozzle is blacked and has heat distortion
- etc..
