As part of my ongoing investigation into ABS Off warning:
Inside part 29 on the picture below is a connector (i can't track down the part number/picture). That connector has the 3 sensor cables in it, but it also has an brown earth cable.
I have double checked the far end of the earth cables on each of the wheels, and these are good (i.e. they are bolted to the car, and have a good earth).
Is there a way to test that the brown earth connection at the connector end is good i.e.1) the brown cable is not broken 2) it is connected ok to whatever it needs to be connected to.
Taking a guess here: The same connector is in the spare wheel well (In the front of the well, under a plastic cover). You should be able to check from one earth to the other to ensure the cable individual cables are not broken.
as pictured the connector has 3x 2pin connectors in it and when i stripped the black sheath back there are 7 wires.
checked continuity and none of the terminals of the connectors go to the earth.
i guess its just a sort of shield earth cable to try to stop any interference between the other wires.
i cannot see this being your problem
cheers
Phil
that's good info, as i can see there is an earth connector at the other end. I therefore (for each corner) undid the bolt connecting the cable to the wheel, and then tested this free connector for each - which was positive continuity to earth for all of them. If the cable was broken inside its sheath, it would not have tested ok, so i feel confident the cable is ok. So i can reattached them all.
