I dont have anymore pics of the interior as the car is not here. But the binnacle / pod wasnt painted its just bare dirty plastic. But more to come in the following weeks with how much Porsche thinks I need to spend. And then maybe a summary of how 5 hours of autobahn went. Or didnt. Anyone who wants to come over and join me for that is most welcome.
Here are links to two MP4 files with the engine running from a cold start. The surging went away once the engine temperature came up. The dash warning light said it needed coolant so we added around a litre and the temp stayed at 90. Engine sounded super smooth and normal. Bearing in mind this was a TÜVed and running car before storage. Hope the links work.

What does the Affissianadi think to these as period correct? Obv. to be re-covered in the correct leather and Missoni inserts. Should I snap them up?

For the US market at least, these seats are not right for the '90 model. The S4 and later seats all have round discs for moving the seat up/down, as well as lumbar for those equipped with 12 way adjustment. There are 4 arrows on each round disk indicating their function.

Euro GTs had less options than US spec versions, and many of them had the manual fore/aft adjustment etc.
Again, before diving deep into the restoration, I would highly recommend a breakdown of the build sheet so you are familiar with what was in the car as it came out of the factory. A specimen like this in this day should be preferably returned to original condition… That would give it its biggest bang for the buck and long term value preservation. On that thought, the process would be sorting it out mechanically fully then going over the paint and leaving the interior to last as it will be the most intensive work.
For interior color match, I would get a small sample 1”x1” from behind the rear quarter panel and send to ColorPlus for an exact replication of the color so you can reduce the leather where applicable. That will also apply to the new front factory seats.
Mechanically, it’s a long list to inspect and replace… mostly starting with all the rubber components (and most importantly the fuel lines), followed by vacuum lines/pods etc. Get your Engine and HVAC vacuum systems in proper working condition. Flush all fluids. Inspect the suspension bushings and strut mounts/absorbers. Considering the age and mileage, an intake refresh might be in order (again dry lines). Remove the electric panel and clean all fuses/relays, deoxit and reinstall, clean all car ground points. Those will get you into a clean running state… then we can talk about the paint and interior

@ShiftingGears - If you're seeking emotional support, you've come to the right place! Absolutely wonderful find and save. I'm an air cooled owner as well, but man does my 928 tug at the heart strings. Looking forward to updates as you dive deeper and as we say " welcome to the tank....the Shark Tank!"

@slownrusty thanks shark brother. Yer. Big emotional rollercoaster will be the seats. Finding some matching Missoni cloth for the inserts could be problematic. But who knows maybe there is some hiding in a warehouse in Milan? I will be documenting that hunt because if you google map Munich to Milan you will see the shortest route via the Engedin. 😉. As I said any Stateside sharksters who want to visit just say.

Whats the steps to find out more - Porsche Classic contact maybe? Would they have the cars original records?

I'm almost sure that this is a Porsche style department 928, like my friend's @Puyi former 1990 GT whose VIN was close.
A lot of details were specific and this is why I asked about the handbrake lever.
Also, the luggage cover was in assorted leather on his car.
The seats cloth was from Missoni, Milano:

I would need a good picture of the back seat cloth but know someone who could help to provide a document in relation with this car.

Nice car. When I lived in Germany from 1990-1995, on the Kaserne at the Auto Craft shop we would and did paint many cars in the paint booth. The German fellas that worked there were envious as we had basically nominal environmental rules. I think all those American places are gone now. I know here in the USA on our military bases here at these same Auto Craft shops all the paint booths have been removed and then these shops have been closed up, truly sad. The TuV inspection would have taken perhaps 50% of the American cars off the road if we were subjected to it. I had a 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby in Germany in this time frame and it looked like a 928 a bit on the back windows, and one time I was going too fast and a Polizei 928 pulled me over for speeding and the officers just wanted to get a look at this 928 look-alike car -- they told me as much and then said obey the posted speed limits, I thanked them and we all said TcshuB with a laugh.
I look fwd to this thread.
