928, Drivetrain swap from a 1982 into 1979.
Hi guys. So I have a 1979 manual in really nice overall condition. It is missing the motor. PO was going to do an LS swap and lost interest. The only thing he did to the car was pull the motor.
I have an 82, 300hp, manual, and the overall condition of the car is poor, body is fair, interior is complete but rough. Motor turns, is complete, but I have not tried starting it.
So the questions are; Is this swap possible, and if so, what's all involved?

That should be a great swap.Both are CIS cars and you have everything that might be different then the what the 79 used in the "parts car" 82.
Kind of like a Plug n Play engine swap.Only issue is going to be cleaning the fuel system in the 79 to make sure it is spotlessly clean. CIS cars do not like dirty fuel lines/tanks/injection components.

May not answer actual question...but I have a complete running '79 motor for sale. I mean complete. It is still in the car so you can see it run and what you get.
Includes all attached fuel lines, injectors, intake, exhaust manifolds, WUR, FI CIS, coolant hoses, all belts, alternator, FOE wiring up to 14 pin, A/C compressor and lines. Basically everything forward of firewall Literally plug-and-play. Obviously lots of bits and pieces underhood.
It is an automatic but should be easy to mod to attach 5-spd. Let me know.
