Unhappy importing to USA

Just my luck.. Buy a new shark and then relocate. I bought a 94gts with the anticipation of staying in Japan for 2 more years before relocating to USA. Now, I find I must move to Switzerland for 2 years the return to USA.

So I am wondering if I should import into USA directly or ship to switzerland then to USA or USA to Switzerland then back to USA.
The car only has 24,000 miles and is immaculate. It is automatic and has the emmission catalytic muffler. I was reading horror stories about importing and found that I must modify my headlights and replace my instrument panel with a miles output v.s. kilometer output. How can I find out what else I must do.. and where is the best place to do it? And where is the best place to buy used parts for this venture?

Has any of you imported..The steering wheel is on the left side.

It is much, much easier to import to Canada. Cars in excess of 15 years of age from the build date come in directly - no modifications required. Emission criteria ,where they exist ,are normally met even by cars without OEM cats. [ my '88 S4 was imported from Tokyo]
A '94 may require a cat and a 3rd rear brake light, and a Km/hr speedo - and 2 of 3 are already done ( and possibly daytime running lights) ~ 1 hours work!
So here's the deal - We can export/import the GTS to my garage for 2 years safe keeping ( BWWWAAAAaaaaaaaaaa! - only occasionally!) - and work out the remaining details when you emigrate to the US.
BTW, there is an excellent post in the archives concerning importation to the US: If I find the link, I will either post it or PM you. Good luck.
