Default Brakes done, now some electrical issues

Hey all,

Well I finally got the front rotors and pads done last night. Really not that hard. Also got the new wire harness in for the right rear brake lights.

Was fidling around with a couple electrical issues, and need some advice. Looking for some BTDT advice.

1. Got the rear wiper working, replaced the fuse and the relay. However it still refuses to return to the home position, ie. it stops half way across, on the right or somewhere in between. It takes half dozen or more tries to get it all the way back to the left. Any suggestions? Am I looking at a new motor or possible just some loose wiring?

2. Drivers side rear marker light is out, all other exterior lights work fine. Changed the bulb still not working spade connections are clean and apear to be making good contact. Will borrow volt meter from work tonight to check if I'm getting power at the socket. Any one with some experience with this?

3. None of the interior overhead/door lights work, is the relay my best/first place to check? When talking with Jim at 928 Int'l when I ordered the brakes he made suggestions, but I was unable to get to it right away and have to admit to having forgotten his advice. Sorry Jim.

4. Stereo was working fine, but after reseating all the fuses it is now not. Still getting power but no display or sound. It's the original factory unit so wouldn't be surprised if it just finally died however timing makes it seem strange. I will re-check fuses tonight. It was getting late and decided to leave it for the time being but would like to get it fixed, replacing it of course is the other option.

Well, think that's it for now. Taking the care in for safety and drive clean tomorrow, hopefully all goes well. Wish me luck.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Rez,

Thanks for the link. Looks like a good weekend project. I'm also planning on doing a cleaning of the ground points on the car. Hopefully this will fix some if not all of the issues.

One of my tail lights has a bad connector. Is the only solution to buy an entire wiring harness for that particular lens? How much and from whom?

Brian,

I got mine from a local Porsche dismantler here in Toronto http://www.porschapart.com/index.html . I paid $80 cdn for it. Give them a call, they will ship it to you. By the way I have absolutely no affiliation with them.

I know 928 Int'l has them in their catalogue as well.

As for replacing the whole harness being the only option, i would imagine that if you could find just the particular socket you need you could splice it in.

Hope this helps.

Kevin,

Thanks for the tip. Will look into that when I get home from work tonight.
