Default LED Clock Refresh

I have a 85 928 and my digital clock bit the dust.
Has anyone upgraded theirs to a cool analog clock?
Let's see some pics of your upgrades.

I changed mine over similar to this thread, also used used an old ford clock but one with less busy face as the base, getting the back lighting right is the trickiest bit

One option is to repair it with this ~$40 kit. There are two solder joints at the power connections that need to be de-soldered and re-soldered, but otherwise it's a pretty straightforward repair.

Yeah but that digital clock is pretty ugly. I'd like to go with something a little nicer.

One could fit a 40/36mm Porsche Design quartz non-crono
This pic is just one I pulled off Ebay, black I'd think would be better

I'm kind of partial to the round analog clock that came as an Exclusive option with the rootwood consoles.

Tony, if it's not too late to cancel, you can also get the screen on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/32540819863...hoC6GwQAvD_BwE

OT: but I didn't realize that the clock in the rootwood console was special in any way; it's the only one I've ever really known. If I can figure out all the other gremlins that have popped up, I'd like to move on to refreshing the arms of that little clock, and the rootwood trim bits themselves.

OP: Have you considered nixie tubes, like in the avatar above? Now that would be unique!

Cheers

It is different from that used on the '78-82 cars, not sure what other cars spec'd that particular clock. I have one that has a date code of 5/89, not sure what other Porsches (or other German cars) might have been using a round clock contemporaneously (?)

Back on topic, I agree that the '83-89 LCD clock wasn't Porsche's most inspired design. It'd be cool to get a center console bezel made to retrofit the round '78-82 clock to it and that fits in the mid-year cars, one would probably sell about as many '78-82 clocks as 928Intl has in stock.

As always, the easiest way is to buy the later original analog clock. Easy swap, superb looking upgrade. Extremely expensive nos but sometimes pops up on ebay. Found this one listed now, faded hands but rather good price...;
