Plastic Hose For Top of Steering Rack For 1987 S4
Hey guys, rebuilding my steering rack and once I removed it I noticed I needed more that the bushing and rebuild kit. There’s a black hose that has two 90 degree elbows that run from one side of rack to the other. Checked with a few vendors and even my local dealership, and all said that I can only get that hose when I buy a new rack with runs $5100.
Anyone know where I might be able to find this set up or what after market fixes others have done on it?
Or is plugging both sides an option? Or no option?
Any suggestions would be great since I have time now to work on it for the next few days since I’m on vacation.

Kinda looks like one of these:

You may need to lengthen the plastic connecting tube though.

I think that is a venting type hose from one end to the other to equalize the pressures when the rack moves. Yours looks as if the plastic nipple broke off. Maybe someone has a bum rack with the hose and fittings still on it. Or you can call 928internatiional (928intl.com) (714)-632-9288 and see if they can fix you up. Either way, you have som research to do. You may get other responses from the great guys here. Good Luck!

Looks as if it may vent one side to the other (So plugging is not an option) Another option is to call 928 international (928intl.com). and see if they can help you with the whole pipe or just the broken fitting. You could also invest in a rebuilt rack from one of the big 3 928 parts guys (Wouldn't be $5000). you might get other responses from rennlist othe people may have bum racks with parts available. Anyway, good luck with your project,

Knowing Porsche it is probably the same as the part on the 944 P#94434731100. The protective cap on the 944 power steering rack is a 928 part anyways.
Was $20, now $80. Thank you Porsche....
