To my knowledge the only problem with bad converter bearings is the annoying sound. I couldnt live with it so out they came....along with about 1.2 million other things to get to them.

Mine is at Zimms as we speak for replacement of the carrier bearings at the transmission end. Zimms tell me that they have had a number of 928's come in for what appears to be torgue Tube bearing problems but on strip down it is found to be the carrier bearings.
Should find out today if I need Torque tube as well.
The whining noise got so bad I could not stand it anymore.
