Another vote for solution finish. Worked great on my 928s spoilers and trim. Also have used it on several jeeps with plastic fenders and it works great there too. Lasts a long time too.

Sem 39293, Known colloquially at your local paint store as "Honda Bumper Black"

This product works amazing and dries quick wiith a nice flat sheen that remains flexible. It sticks to plastics and metals with no adhesion promotor necessary. I've used it on rubber, plastic trim and wiper blades with excellent results.

As with any coating, clean and prep is the key, a good 2 step process of preps-all and / or a denatured alcohol wash with a lint free rag is key, Then a soap and water bath. Then a water test... to see if the water sheets or beads up. If it sheets you're good to go. If it beads up then you need to clean again. Once the water sheets the coating is ready to apply and will offer the best results.

But, apparently, don't get too happy with the denatured alcohol when around the types of plastic used for some lights!:

This is not what solvent cracking looks like, That's an impact or stress crack. Solvent cracking is usually fine hair line cracks. Solvents can also melt and or fog some low quality plastics, That said Denatured Alcohol is flammable and the person in question did "swish the DA around the inside" of the tall lamp, then it could have vaporized and mixed with O2 and an ignition source, perhaps a spark from the lamp socket bulb and BOOM! Stress Cracked tail lamp. Also could be a stress crack from the R&R of the tails lamp that was done to clean it internally In any case this hardly related to cleaning black plastic trim but when working with any solvent it's always good to test on an inconspicuous area.
