Make sure you have the cover on the alternator that it fits on. PN 928 603 133 07 or 928 603 035 02 . Flexable pipe on is 928 603 143 04. 900 MM length.

Do not disconnect the sensor - remove it from the hose if you want (but save the clip). Dangling it in space is fine, I'd suggest a new hose and reinstallation soon.

If you are looking for a suitable non-oem replacement, here is a thread that shows one:

Thanks for the link.....this seems like it might be a good alternative, what are your thoughts?

I see the factory replacement is about $100!!!!

That looks like what I bought for the job though I haven't installed it yet. I bought only one meter of the hose though note that the thread indicated that 2 might be better. If I run short, looks like I can always get more.
Good luck with it.

I removed the inner fender panel and am losing a bunch of the foam around the edge. As expected for 37 year old material. Anything available for replacement?

Yes - go to Home Depot, Lowes, Ace or your local hardware store and look for foam insulation with the mastic back tape strip on it. Buy a couple of packages and replace it all. I've done it on every one of my 5 sharks over the years and it holds up as if it were original, and cost pennies relatively speaking. I use the 3/4" wide stuff, and you may need to double stick layers to fully fill the channels. It looks stock too.
