No doubt!
The issue is probably with those pesky washers and nuts
running from the upper corners to the last one inboard of
the headlight.
Some will suggest all manner of universals and varying
length extensions. Good luck! Mine turned out to be one of those
'walk away' affairs. Where you have to take a break due to
zero progress. Hand and side cramps were so numerous I kept
a bunch of bananas within reach. Tried using my son and wife to
reach in there with theirsmaller hands and forearms, but in the end
It took two days. During my 'walk aways' I'd work on something else. Of course when Zack wrecked the White 81' I had more reason to work on something else. Patience and perseverance.
On the upside, think how much it would cost if it was shop work!
I'm trying to locate those 8 mm wing nuts -like the one's holding the marker lights on - for ease of installation, will probably need lock washers as well for ease of installation. I think there is enough room to use them.
When Zack's White gets off of the frame staightener next week I plan to try em'.

Put the headlights up?

It makes it much easier.

Good luck!

More info on the situation and problems would be good.

If the issue is fit, then consider loosening the fenders and moving them out/in to match the cover. The body panels are not precision made.

Default bumper cover

sorry for the lack of info.
MY 81
Problem is getting it to fit back on. Can't seem to get everything to line up and the bolts pushed back thru the holes. I try 1st connecting the bottom bolts (just one on each side) and then can not get the bumper cover to "fit" back on so the bolts go thru the fender.
I try to put the bolts back thru the fender 1st and can not get both sides in.
I guess it is something I just have to keep wiggling to get it going. Just sort of worried I will screw up the new paint pushing so hard.

On mine I needed to work it on carefully. It seemed that the pieces that go around the fog lights and such would get hung up. It needed to go straight on. Then work the bolts into the fenders carefully.

thanx for all the info. Turned out it was the hoses for the headlight washers getting caught up on the alum. bumper. I replaced the hoses while I was there and they were keeping the cover from going all the way in.
For those who missed the tool described in a earlier post. For getting at the bolts up by the headlight, get a ratchet wrench (mine are from sears). Makes it much easier to tighten or loosen. Once u get the wrench on it, just ratchet away. I am actually using a 5/16' instead of a 8mm but it worked fine.
